The song was nominated for Choice Love Song at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards, and for British Single of the Year and British Video of the Year at the 2016 Brit Awards. On the Billboard Hot 100 the single peaked at number 67, becoming their highest-charting single to date in the US. The single also peaked within the top 10 of the charts in Ireland, Australia and Israel. As of January 2019 the single has been certified double platinum in the UK and gold or higher in ten additional countries, including diamond in Brazil.
“Black Magic” topped the UK Singles Chart with combined sales of 113,000 in its first week, making it the group’s first single to top the chart since their 2012 single “Wings”, and remained at number one for three weeks, becoming the first single by a girl group to do so since Sugababes’s “About You Now” in October 2007.
